This was so much fun to read. Thank you for doing this extremely important research!

The Freestyle map came to my rescue once when I had been working an outdoor gig on an excruciatingly hot day. I became obsessed with the thought that a cherry vanilla Dr Pepper was the only thing that would revitalize me. I checked the map and discovered that there was one at a pita restaurant just a few blocks away. That machine was such a welcome sight.

1) Love the map actually serving its intended function for someone!, and,

2) A true sodahead here both in your excellent flavor choice + in your correct punctuation of Dr Pepper

Welcome back! Not a moment too soon. I would read the hell out of your history of the Coke Freestyle machine!

This post, and the return of The Soda Fountain, is precisely what I needed this week!

Huzzah! Welcome back.

My personal white whale with the freestyle machines is "Raspberry". I am so frustrated that they took it away as I love a Raspberry Coke for my sweet tooth even more than a cherry coke.

I suspect they removed it due to their ill fated roll out of Spiced Coke. But I'm afraid they removed it because it was cannibalizing their more profitable cherry coke as they are in a similar lane.

Some of the Royal Caribbean cruise ships have Coke Freestyle machines. I was very happy to see one on our cruise a few year's back.

Is there a pre-order date on your book? My daughter-in-law (and my son) is a big women's basketball fan (go Sun!) and her birthday is in March.

This is so sweet of you to ask! It should be out in October or November (too late for her birthday, but maybe for the holidays...?) and the pre-order link will be coming in the summer. Don't worry, I will definitely promote it enough on other channels that you will not be able to miss it, ha

Do you know about the drinks bar at Japanese "famiresu" or family restaurants? (think the Japanese equivalent of a Friendly's or Denny's or simply Denny'ses in Japan). You pay a couple of dollars and can help yourself to AYCD sodas, coffee, tea, juices, etc. The sodas come in a freestyle-esque Coke machine (example: https://www.japan-experience.com/sites/default/files/styles/scale_500w/public/legacy/japan_experience/1555426276128.com.webp?itok=hmiKOfUc), although regionalized to include various flavors of Calpis soda. But the greatest innovation of the drinks bar is melon-flavored Coke. Ambrosial.

Also inspired by your infamous Red Bull-brewed coffee, once on our recent trip in the throes of jet lag, I make myself a drink bar drink of half melon Diet Coke, half black iced coffee. It did the trick.

1) omg. I have to try melon Coke now!

2) I am so embarrassed to have influenced anyone with my Red Bull coffee, but your version sounds so delightful!!

I am nearly positive there is a Freestyle machine in the West Wing of the White House - I took a tour last year and thought to myself “Wow! A Coke Freestyle machine outside the situation room!” BUT that is not listed in the database. Hmmmm….

I love the idea of someone being tasked with determining which government Coke Freestyles are too secret to be tracked on the map. White House Mess? Share it. West Wing? Gotta keep it under wraps. (+ I forgot to include that it says there is one machine at the Pentagon!)

The problem with these machines is they replaced the lemon Diet Coke flavor with "ginger lemon." Lemon needs to be its own thing! Diet Coke with Lemon was a real product! I miss it terribly! Its like they took the booze out of a Diet Coke and Bacardi Limon, the best summer drink!
