Dr. Pepper and the old west is a great combo. Lonesome Dove's timelessness is remarkable. The TV mini-series was my father's favorite. He would watch his VHS copy on repeat. My very first professional editing gig (30 years ago) was cutting promos for TBS/TNT's Lonesome Dove re-runs. I can still hear the baritone voiceover "LONE-summm DOVVVVVE." Great post!
Thank you for an unexpected post this holiday season! Like a Dr Pepper, this substack is a wonderful little treat.
I loved Lonesome Dove when I first read it in college 25 years ago. I reread it about 5 years ago and while the story was the same it hit me much differently. Such a great book though.
Happy Holidays, E,mma.

Emma, really enjoy your work at SI. I have never tasted a Dr. Pepper or read Lonesome Dove, but I still enjoyed your writing.
